About Shelbie Pittman

Charzetta Shelbie Pittman is an alumna of the Overton High School Choir and the STAX Music Academy in Memphis, Tennessee. She was a student in the Hotchkiss Chamber Music Program in Lakeville, Connecticut. She also attended the Summer Performance Program at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. She was a member of the STAX Music Academy Alumni Band where she performed at various venues and festivals in the Memphis area. She has performed with artists such as Beverley Knight (platinum selling soul singing artist in the United Kingdom and star of the musical “Memphis”), Kirk Whalum (gospel jazz saxophonist), David Bryan (keyboard player from Bon Jovi), Micah Stampley (gospel artist and actor), Glen Jones, etc... She is also a graduate of Murray State University where she received a Bachelor of Music in education. While at Murray State, she lead many vocal performing groups. She also acted as Motormouth Maybelle in the musical Hairspray and Mother Shaw in the gospel musical Crowns. She currently works as the Choir Director at Hickory Ridge Middle School in Memphis,Tennessee, and she is a member of the gospel group, Kairos. She has been the music director for multiple musicals including "The Wiz" and "Dreamgirls," for which she won the broadway world regional award for best music direction. Pittman is now working on her own music. She released a virtual concert on her social media platforms, and she has also released her debut single Cry.
